Transforming Communities Through Education
Altruisity Foundation partnered with Legacy College to open doors for talented students from rural Kenya who deserve a real chance at higher education. In 2019 we helped build the College of Business and Social Entrepreneurship and fully funded the first class of 20 students. Their scholarships covered tuition, books, supplies, housing and meals. Without this support, these students would not have been able to attend college.
Every student completed the accredited three-year program and earned a degree in entrepreneurship. During their final year they researched, planned and built a business concept tailored to the needs of their home communities. Each student presented their plan to a panel of professional advisors and received seed funding to launch their business. Those ventures are now taking root and shaping rural economies in meaningful ways.
The inaugural class graduated in December 2024. Today they are running their own business outlets with confidence and purpose. And the results are impressive:
100% of the enterprises are still running
10+ jobs created
Agribusinesses doubled herd sizes and expanded acreage
Many businesses diversified products to stabilize cashflow and shifted toward higher-margin direct-to-market model
Several adopted mobile payments, online marketing, and reinvestment strategies, yielding improved financial stability and long-term sustainability
